Kite lands new tenants for Fishers shopping center

Kite logoKite Realty Group Trust has landed Goodwill, Dollar Tree and Mexico City Grill for a renovation of its Fishers Station shopping center at the northeast corner of 116th Street and Allisonville Road in Fishers. An updated site plan for the Marsh-anchored center shows a 15,250-square-foot Goodwill store near the Marsh and a Dollar Tree on the other end of the center. Outlots at the shopping center include Midas, Key Bank and Arby's. In a separate development across Allisonville Road from the center, a Donatos restaurant has closed and is being replaced by Farmers Bank. Fishers Station isn't the only local center Kite is remodeling to add new anchor tenants. The locally based real estate investment trust also is adding space for a Nordstrom Rack, Container Store and BuyBuy Baby to its Shops at Rivers Edge center along 82nd Street at Dean Road.     Seriously, Goodwill and Dollar Tree anchoring a strip mall at 116th and Allisonville? When did that become "inner city"?

    Check cashing, pawn shop, and the buy-here pay-here car lot can't be far behind.

    I'm titillated at the thought of a Goodwill and Dollar Tree anchoring a strip mall in this area. Can't wait until this becomes the next best thing of Indy. Another GHETTO.

    Half the comments on here seemed to be based on ignorance. Furthermore, to the person who mentioned GHETTO. Go look up the definition. And on another note - look up the 990 for Goodwill Industries - see what they do and how the money runs. You might find it interesting. If you don't know what a 990 is (nevermind).

    To Dustin & Thundermutt - I would think that having stores is better than having vacancy. In addition, just because you live on the northeast side doesn't necessarily mean you can't enjoy a bargin. Seriously... I come from an above average HHI and my kids love to shop Goodwill for vintage and "scrub" clothes in addition a Dollar Store is a great place to buy cleaning supplies, school supplies, and even some brand name items for cheaper than what you might get at a higher end superstore.

    With a screen name like Thundermutt I don't know that I would be casting stones.

    ...like a few of the other posters, I am amazed at the apparent ignorance of some of my fellow IBJ readers. The Goodwill is now "ghetto"? There isn't ANYTHING a person might be interested in purchasing at Dollar Store that they might already be paying more for at Target? Not everyone who lives in Fishers, or even Carmel, for that matter, is "well off" and above saving a few dollars when the chance presents itself. Geez...

    I think some people are missing part of why Goodwill has built more and more stores in nice areas over time. It isn't just for the shoppers they get there (although you'd be surprised how many shop there that could go to somewhere that costs more) but they love locating there also because you get great things donated in the suburbs. The quality of items that Goodwill can get donated in places like Hamilton County vs. the ghetto is night and day. Once you get high quality merchandise donated finding the buyers for it is the easy part. You'll get bargain shoppers in the burbs coming in along with people that drive out to the suburban Goodwill locations because they know they have the best stuff.

    The Goodwill is just relocating from the Allisonville location that has been there for over 15 years (next to the new Sahms location). Also...one reason people in Hamilton county have nice things is that they are smart with their dollars. Why pay $2.50 for the same toilet cleaner you can get fot a dollar?

    My favorite Goodwill is at S. Emerson and Southport Rd. The Super Target across the street donates some of it's surplus to that Goodwill so you can find a lot of Target stuff there for a lot less money.

      WHERE IS THAT GOODWILL? I KNOW OF ONE AT COUNTY LINE AND EMERSON BUT I DON'T REMEMBER ONE AT SOUTHPORT AND EMERSON.

      Great to hear Goodwill is moving in. My parents live nearby and I'm hoping this will help me when I clean out the basement with them! This strip mall need some solid tenants.

    1. In my opinion the estridge companies are crooks. They filed bankruptcy on their 'track housing' side of the business two weeks before they closed on one of my clients' homes. When my client first interviewed Estridge as a builder 6 months before, they specifically ASKED about the solvency of their business, knowing that some builders were struggling. Estridge truly misrepresented their financial situation at that time. I suppose I am more unhappy with the whole system than I am with the builder because what the heck==you can file bankruptcy on 'track homes' but still keep building and make money off of 'custom built' homes??? How ridiculous! They are all homes. How can a company be allowed to bilk thousands of dollars from their subcontractors but still be allowed to build houses?? they should have been made to pay back all their unpaid contractors before being allowed to profit from building any more houses! This alone makes them and the system crooks in my eyes. I would never build an estridge home and I would not recommend for my clients either. If they were truly 'bankrupt' how could they afford to keep building homes anyway??? The whole system needs fixed.

    2. I live a couple blocks east of the Angie's campus and my house is assessed for ~$160,000. If I could get that amount, let alone $384,000 (a 140% bonus), I'd sell in a minute. Either Angie's stockholders just got fleeced, or Angie's is getting about a 58% discount on their property taxes, if these properties are actually worth what they paid Mr. Oesterle for them. Which do you think is the case?

    3. Perhaps the IMA board is really to blame! They agreed to hire Charles. They can't seemingly find donors among themselves, or bring in new blood that will support the museums operating budget with an expanded museum and money to provide curators with something to do (ie buy art). The headlines of disarray at the museum and mass firings are hurting the reputation of the museum for some time to come. If people on the board had misgivings, perhaps they shpuld have more forcefully opposed efforts that they have seemingly been unable to fund, like expansion and the costs it has created!

    4. See, I told u Indyman and Dipsicle....this 8 days is overkill. It's barely worth a weekend....great job Tony George! Your dream has been fulfilled....he fans want the I r l back. Thats how good it was.....and that sucked.

    5. I have been in training for a short time now but right off I can see that safety and quality are the number one issues, my experience as of late has been a positive one, the employees along with Jeff the plant manager and the operation supervisor as well as the engineers are a highly motivated group of people, what an asset for the area to have and for company's in need of a quality metal products.
