  • Compass roseForever 21 is taking over the former Borders space at Castleton Square Mall. The clothing retailer has begun its transformation of the former bookstore space and should open in about three months, a mall official said.
  • Hollister Co. has closed its store at Circle Centre. The teen-oriented retailer, part of Ohio-based Abercrombe & Fitch Co., still has stores at Greenwood Park, Castleton Square and Clay Terrace.
  • Staples plans to build a standalone store at the southeast corner of 96th Street and Interstate 69 in a center that includes Kohl's and Meijer. The 15,800-square-foot office supply store would replace a location north of 96th Street between Walmart and Marsh.
  • United Package Liquors plans to take about 3,200 square feet for a new store in the shopping center along Broad Ripple Avenue west of Compton Street. The new store will replace the snug United Package store at the northeast corner of Winthrop and Broad Ripple avenues.
  • Cheddar's Casual Cafe, a chain based in Texas, plans to open its first central Indiana location along Rockville Road in Avon. Plans call for the restaurant at 9512 Rockville Road to take about 5,000 square feet.
  • Jack in the Box has filed plans to open a restaurant near 86th Street and Michigan Road, in front of Lowe's and Goodwill. The restaurant is taking about 2,800 square feet.

Is there a hard open date yet for the JitB at 21st and Post?
  • Cheddars returns!
Indy actually did have a Cheddars back in the ‘90s on 38th Street, just east of Lafayette Road. It burned down and the lot has remained empty all this time. I, for one, will be looking forward to its new location in the Indy area. Good burgers!
    • Cheddar's
Technically the store will be around 8,000 sq ft and is adressed as 9466 E US Highway 36
    • Beaten
J-lo beat me to it about the Cheddars on 38th. They were pretty good. I hope they're better than chilis/Applebee's.
      • Broad Ripple - UPL
I'm guessing BRVA plans to petition against the United Package Liquors?
      • UPL moving
Do you know what's in the plans for the old United Pkg location? I am sure there is plenty of interest for that spot...
      • Cheddars
I visited the one in southern Indiana (Evansville) a few months ago. Same as the one that burned down here, all the way to the ceiling fans. The only thing missing was the Fajitas on the menu. Welcome back!
      • BRVA Changes
The longtime director of this dictatorship like organization has resigned. I pray her successor is more business friendly.
      • Happenings
Dang I was gonna post about Cheddars too (lol) loved that place back in the day they had the best onion rings.

Where is the UPL store actually going to be?

Trade Secret salon closed in Castleton Sq.

Naked Chopstix Ole King Cole location is being held up due to legal issues.

Is Calle 52 ever going to open?

Any word on the downtown Nordstrom taking a tenant?
      • Cheddars
Cheddars is definitely better than Applebee's and Chili's. The menu selection and quality is superior, as is the value. I frequent the one in Fort Wayne when visiting family and am always pleased.
      • Cheddars
When is the cheddars opening on Rockville rd.?
        • Cheddar's
I'm with Elizabeth - does anyone know when the Cheddar's will open? I've searched but haven't come up with anything...
        • I remember Cheddar's in Indy
I remember that Cheddars in Indianapolis, too.
        • Disappointed
I was hoping the structure being built between Kohl's and Meijer on 96th St was something better than Staples. I was hoping for a restaurant or a NEW store. Not something that already exists down the street and that I rarely shop at. OK, I am done spending my two cents :)
          • Gordman's
I see a new Gordman's going into Avon. What type of store is it?
          • Cheddars opening.
Cheddars open on June 11 at 11. I for one am looking forward to it. Honey butter Crossaints are the best
          • Staples
I agree, not sure why Meijer would want school supply competitor in their parking lot...
          • Cheddar's - Southside Indy
Saw a building permit for a new Cheddar's Restaurant at NE corner of County Line Rd. and Emerson.

          1. Of what value is selling alcoholic beverages to State Fair patrons when there are many families with children attending. Is this the message we want to give children attending and participating in the Fair, another venue with alooholic consumption onsite. Is this to promote beer and wine production in the state which are great for the breweries and wineries, but where does this end up 10-15 years from now, lots more drinkers for the alcoholic contents. If these drinks are so important, why not remove the alcohol content and the flavor and drink itself similar to soft drinks would be the novelty, not the alcoholic content and its affects on the drinker. There is no social or material benefit from drinking alcoholic beverages, mostly people want to get slightly or highly drunk.

          2. I did;nt know anyone in Indiana could count- WHY did they NOT SAY just HOW this would be enforced? Because it WON;T! NOW- with that said- BIG BROTHER is ALIVE in this Article-why take any comment if it won't appease YOU PEOPLE- that's NOT American- with EVERYTHING you indicated is NOT said-I can see WHY it say's o Comments- YOU are COMMIES- BIG BROTHER and most likely- voted for Obama!

          3. In Europe there are schools for hairdressing but you don't get a license afterwards but you are required to assist in turkey and Italy its 7 years in japan it's 10 years England 2 so these people who assist know how to do hair their not just anybody and if your an owner and you hire someone with no experience then ur an idiot I've known stylist from different countries with no license but they are professional clean and safe they have no license but they have experience a license doesn't mean anything look at all the bad hairdressers in the world that have fried peoples hair okay but they have a license doesn't make them a professional at their job I think they should get rid of it because stateboard robs stylist and owners and they fine you for the dumbest f***ing things oh ur license isn't displayed 100$ oh ur wearing open toe shoes fine, oh there's ONE HAIR IN UR BRUSH that's a fine it's like really? So I think they need to go or ease up on their regulations because their too strict

          4. Exciting times in Carmel.

          5. Twenty years ago when we moved to Indy I was a stay at home mom and knew not very many people.WIBC was my family and friends for the most part. It was informative, civil, and humerous with Dave the KING. Terri, Jeff, Stever, Big Joe, Matt, Pat and Crumie. I loved them all, and they seemed to love each other. I didn't mind Greg Garrison, but I was not a Rush fan. NOW I can't stand Chicks and all their giggly opinions. Tony Katz is to abrasive that early in the morning(or really any time). I will tune in on Saturday morning for the usual fun and priceless information from Pat and Crumie, mornings it will be 90.1
