Exopack LLC plans to close its Seymour facility and terminate 111 employees by July 1, the company said Wednesday in a notice
to the state.
The Spartanburg, S.C.-based packaging company cited “business circumstances” for the closure in its notice filed
with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
Exopack, a public company, suffered a loss of $18.7 million in 2011, according to a financial statement. The company has
17 other production facilities in North America and the United Kingdom.
The Seymour facility makes packaging for pet and lawn-and-garden products.
Just last month, another packaging product firm, International Paper, told the state it was eliminating one shift and 57
employees at its Crawfordsville box plant.
And, in November, International Paper extended an indefinite layoff of 87 employees at its packaging plant at 620 S. Belmont
Ave.
