While the reaction seems to be very positive for this year’s Broadway series here in Indy (which includes local premiers of
“Wicked” and “Avenue Q”), some theater buffs have wondered if we’ll ever see the tours of the acclaimed John Doyle-directed
“Sweeney Todd” revival or the Tony-winning “The Drowsy Chaperone.”
Well, both are within reach—if you can handle the cost of tickets and gas.
IU Auditorium’s 2008/2009 season not only includes “Todd” and “Chaperone,” but also already-been-here tours of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels,” “Mamma Mia!” and “Hairspray.”
On the musical front, the Bloomington venue will also be hosting Vince Gill, Dresden Staatskapelle, and Ladysmith Black Mambazo. More details here.
Lest we forget Purdue University, its Convocations lineup for next season includes “Chaperone,” the musical “Chicago,” and an “Ain’t Misbehavin’” tour with “American Idols” Reuben Studdard and Frenchie Davis.
