To keep this post topical, I'll start with a link to this week's Real Estate Weekly. The news has been slow lately, but my colleague Chip Cutter still managed to dig up some good nuggets. The real news today, of course, is the election. So let's see who Property Lines readers support and test out a few polls. (Updates: You have to vote to see the results since the "show results" button isn't working.)

  • Where's the None of the above choice for Governor?

First time I've not voted straight ticket, it was this governor's race. Did a pointless write-in instead.
  • I believe Andy Horning was running on the none of the above ticket. :-)
  • I just honestly don't understand how anyone could seriously vote for Jill Long Thompson. Anyone who does is either ignorant of facts/issues, a total Democrat shill or got beat up by little Mitchie in the 3rd grade and still carrying a grudge.
  • Vote blue baby!

    Obama/Biden for REAL change :-)
  • I must be from Florida. I actually clicked on the wrong party. Whoops! What's your margin of error Cory?
  • Why are there only two choices for president?
  • what happened to Bob Barr?
  • I voted for Bob Barr.
  • I am ready for this election to be over with, for the past several months I have been bashed, ridiculed (sp?), and fround upon for my views (even though they are not radical, but mainstream-middle of the road). Reupblicians see me as a hard core democrat, Democrats have seen me as a hard-core republician. Those assumptions are way off. I have been middle of the road this whole time and deciding canididates one by one who would be better for the job.

I just hope that who ever gets ellected, He/She/They realize that partisian Politics will never work (even if their whole party gets enough to have “run away politics”). A divided Nation can not stand on its own. We all must come together and realize that we are not different from one-another. We all want the same thing, the difference is on HOW are we going to go about doing things. Lets give and take a little here and share ideas and keep an open mind.
  • I voted for Obama! And, if I were still living as a resident in Indiana, I would have voted for Daniels for Governor. Currently a resident of Los Angeles, CA, I also voted today AGAINST Prop 8 which would amend this states constitution to define marriage as only between a man and a woman (this, after well over 16,000 committed gay and lesbian couples in California have been LEGALLY wed since July of THIS year). If you know anyone living in California who has yet to vote, remind them to vote AGAINST hate and discrimination and to vote NO on 8.
  • I voted for Bob Barr!
  • LOL. I voted for all the winners.

BO wins Marion County HUGE. I'm guessing 35k to 40k votes easy.

I can also guarantee you that the Rs are causing huge problems with Challenges on early/absentee ballots. You will be up late to get full results.

Ill tell you folks something about this governor's race. From the D/T and NSide view, Mitch is walking away with this election, but you step outside his safety zone, and there is alot of hostility @ Mitch. What I predict to be the surprise of the night is JLT with 5 points easy of Mitch, and quite possibly upsetting him.

The other 2 races to watch are Mary Ann Sullivan/Elroy Elrod and John Barnes vs. What's his name. Both parties put alot of money into both of those races.

And what is probably going to be THE closest race will be Zoeller vs. linda Pence. Little knbow fact is that Linda got nearly 400k from the Natl Assn of Demo AGs in the last 5 weeks. I predict she wins.

The Dems win big in Marion county, Campo is embarrassed beyond the pale, and Joven goes back to whever he came from.

I'll check in in the morning to see how close i came, but I'll be with the winners tonight @ The Marriot.

overall, it is fantastic to see so many so passionate about this year's election. I've been to over 100 precincts today, and it was beautiful. :D
  • Money ain't votes: Pence loses.

Money wouldn't matter: JLT loses. Mitch's safety zone is way bigger than DT and NSide. Reagan Democrats vote for Mitch. BO ticket splitters vote for Mitch. Jill's appeal doesn't get much beyond Ft. Wayne.

Money wouldn't matter, part deux: Carson wins. No matter what. Forever. R's have conceded this seat since Jacobs retired and Julia won the first time.

Change is good...first time in 32 years we don't have to look at Bush or Clinton on a ballot. About time. If we're lucky, we'll never see either name again except in the photo captions from overseas funerals for former presidents of Brzrkistan and Slobovia.
  • Care to place a cyber beer bet on JLT within 5 points?

And I'll take Pence even steven.
  • I enjoy when people who are against gay marriage are labeled as hateful. That's so tolerant.
  • Damn. good thing those bets didn;t take.
  • I won't gloat much. I'd say Mitch has a mandate for government change, and perhaps our experience with him made Hoosiers comfortable enough with Obama's message of change to split our tickets. That was part of it for me...that, and losing my health insurance.

Now that we've gotten rid of the township assessors, it's time to get rid of the township trustees and the boards.

While we're at it, we need to replace the county commissioners and the lesser county row offices with a single elected county executive, with a clerk and an auditor for checks and balances. No more elected sheriffs, treasurers, coroners, surveyors; all those positions need trained professionals and not elected hacks. We don't elect fire chiefs or sewer-plant managers...
  • Marriage is God's business - he set it up - don't mess with it. Find an alternative like civil unions. Leave marriage alone. And having this opinion is NOT hateful. It is honoring God's tradition.
  • Well, I suspect you are correct Mr. TMutt, but I can tell you that the Ds and unions will fight it all the way. I think it will be THE topic for 09.
  • Idyllic, I didn't label any PERSON, I labeled a message....
  • Da Hooey, at least we'll have the conversation...and it will be very hard for Indiana Democrats to argue against a change agenda since the people of Indiana voted for both a R and a D carrying that message.

However, I have no doubt Speaker Bauer is already limbering up for the necessary contortions.
  • Saw Bauer on TV tonight and he sure has packed on the LBS. Ds will fight for the right to vote for as many people as possible, and I somewhat see the point too. Tooo much power in one persons hand is dangerous. like the Assessors offices dealy. You really think there will be any savings in this? Uh no. You just consolidated all the power into one office instead of 9.

We like Twnshp schools why not other offices located at the twnshp level?

I like knowing my local elected officials (except Mayor Dullard).

  1. why oh why does this state continue to elect these people....do you wonder how much was graft out of the 3.8 billion?

  2. i too think this is a great idea. I think the vision and need is there as well. But also agree with Wendy that there may be better location in our city to fulfill this vision and help grow the sports of hockey and figure skating in Indy. Also to help further develop other parts of the city that seem often forgotten. Any of the other 6 townships out side of the three northernmost could benefit greatly from a facility and a vision like this. For a vision that sounds philanthropic, the location is appears more about the money. Would really like to see it elsewhere, but still wish the development the best of luck, as we can always use more ice in the city. As for the Ice growth when they return, if schedules can be coordinated with the Fuel, what could be better than to have high level hockey available to go see every weekend of the season? Good luck with the development and the return of the Ice.

  3. How many parking spaces do they have at Ironworks? Will residents have reserved spaces or will they have to troll for a space among the people that are there at Ruth Chris & Sangiovese?

  4. You do not get speeding ticket first time you speed and this is not first time Mr.Page has speed. One act should not define a man and this one act won't. He got off with a slap on the wrist. I agree with judge no person was injured by his actions. The state was robbed of money by paying too much rent for a building and that money could have been used for social services. The Page family maybe "generous" with their money but for most part all of it is dirty money that he obtained for sources that are not on the upright. Page is the kind of lawyer that gives lawyers a bad name. He paid off this judge like he has many other tine and walked away. Does he still have his license. I believe so. Hire him to get you confiscated drug money back. He will. It will cost you.

  5. I remain amazed at the level of expertise of the average Internet Television Executive. Obviously they have all the answers and know the business inside and out.
