Federal prosecutors from across the country are gathering in Indianapolis to discuss ways to reduce the number of guns in the hands of criminals, among other violent crime initiatives.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said the meeting of the Attorney General's Advisory Committee on violent and organized crime is being held Wednesday through Friday. The meeting will include presentations Friday to Indiana law enforcement officials from federal prosecutors in Detroit, Philadelphia, Illinois, New York and New Jersey.

When former U.S. Attorney Joe Hogsett announced the conference in June, he described it as a summit where public safety leaders from Detroit, Chicago, Gary and other urban areas could share ideas to help Indianapolis curb its homicide rate. Hogsett has since resigned the federal post and is considering running for mayor of Indianapolis on an anti-crime platform.

So, let me get this straight. The conference is to let those cities that have a much higher rate of gun violence help Indianapolis curb their's...lol
  • YOU are messed up
R, I don't think you could be more wrong. The article said the conference was about keeping guns out of the hands of criminals and other violent crime initiatives. Not everybody can carry a gun in Indiana, only law abiding citizens who are approved after the licensure process can carry a gun. You can smoke in your own home and outside areas, just not where your smoke will affect other peoples atmospheres. Indiana is doing a lot of things right compared to most states. I am happy my Family moved here from Illinois 40 years ago. Just be careful who you mess with because our gun permits are concealed carry permits. You will never know if I have a gun with me unless something unlawful threatens me or mine. Have a good day.

This is so funny. In a state that anyone can carry a gun is having a meeting about how to keep guns away from criminals/people. Can't smoke but its OK to carry a gun. Something wrong here. Indiana you are one messed up state.
