Will Delta, NW merger help you?

Analysts say the Delta-Northwest merger is good for the companies and the profit-starved industry.

That means ticket prices probably will climb.

Both airlines serve Indianapolis. What do you think the merger will mean for local travelers?
  • For those of us not being reimbursed for travel, it will most definitely result in higher ticket prices and extra fees for items that used to be common place, such as food/snacks.

Delta already gouges the local folks in Cincinnati to (allegedly) support their hub operations. They're about to spread the love to other airports too. Wait and see.

Big business wins again, the common man will take it on the chin again.
  • Nope, it won't help Delta and Northwest either. The most likely scenario is that the merger will lead to increased ticket prices. That will lead to reductions in travel. I know I'm already anticipating paying more for the travel I have planned later in the year. Who it will help are cities closer to Indianapolis. I'd love to go to NYC again this year, I'm instead looking at Chicago because I can take the train for a fraction of the cost of airfare.
