For me, it started with an early Friday visit to the ISO and the faux-Beatles at Hilbert Circle Theatre and a stop in at UA
Circle Centre to catch "Aliens in the Attic" in preperation for a guest host house on WFYI's "Film
Soceyology" radio show.
It continued with an oddly underpopulated but hugely rewarding appearance by John Leguizamo at the IRT (sorry you missed it), and a rain-sprinkled "Much Ado About Nothing" at White River State Park (at which I hosted the Saturday pre-show). I also found enough reading time to finish Earl J. Hess and Pratibha A. Dabholkar's "Singin' in the Rain: The Making of an American Masterpiece."
I hope to talk about Leguizamo and Heartland Actors Repertory Theatre's "Much Ado" in an upcoming column or blog. As to the latter, it's the rare film book I've found that pays close attention to the detailed work of creating dance. It also carefully (if sometimes repetitively) gives a clear idea where each member of the creative team was in their career when the film was made--and how that place influenced their work. Insightful and worth reading for movie buffs.
So tell us about your A&E experiences this past weekend?
Your thoughts?
