  1. Very cool. Restoring land to a more native state is worthwhile. Hopefully, some of the programming will focus on ways that homeowners can restore their lawns and gardens to native prairies. The list of harms we inflict on ourselves and the planet because of our lawns is long and troubling and we have a duty to move away from the now that we know those harms. I recommend the works of Douglas Tallamy for anyone interested. Now is the time to visit your local native plant sale and begin or continue your education on the topic.

  2. Glad to see this come to fruition after the original announcement a year or two ago. Good for the Carpenters and the city and county.
    Looks like it will be several years before any actual preserve will be established. The mass disturbance of the original golf course, and the new drive and building shown in the photo will take decades to actually preserve or conserve any new natural habitats, but will be worth it in the long term.
