Trustee Tom Reilly Jr. says the university's low-deductible Anthem Blue Access health care plan is too expensive for the university to continue to offer. The Herald-Times of Bloomington reports that Reilly said IU should not try to cover the entire $24.9 million shortfall itself and implied that employees should share some costs.
Trustees also discussed the school's $900 million in deferred repair and renovation funding at their quarterly meeting Friday at IU East in Richmond. Officials say possible solutions to that funding problem could include a fee dedicated to keeping buildings in good shape or asking the state for more money.
