Both Irsay and Simon—also co-founder of Simon Property Group—were among the four Hoosier entrepreneurs who also made the list last year.
Forbes estimated each man’s net worth at $1.4 billion, unchanged for 52-year-old Irsay and an improvement for Simon, 76, whose holdings were pegged at $1.1 billion last year.
Cook Group Inc. founder Bill Cook, who made his fortune selling medical devices, slipped nearly 100 places in the rankings, ending up 362nd with a net worth of $3.1 billion, down from $4.5 billion. Cook, 79, and his wife Gayle are noted philanthropists who live in Bloomington.
Dean White, the 87-year-old founder of Merrillville-based White Lodging, was listed 692nd with a net worth of $1.8 billion.
Mexican tycoon Carlo Slim Helu ($74 billion) topped the billionaires list for the second time in a row, followed by Microsoft chief Bill Gates ($56 billion) and investing guru Warren Buffett ($50 billion).
All told, 1,210 billionaires made the list with a total net worth of $4.5 trillion—both records for Forbes.
