Subscribe NowMembers of the Capital Improvement Board of Marion County voted Monday afternoon to retain the services of three firms that currently provide security at Lucas Oil Stadium and the Indiana Convention Center.
CIB issued a request for proposals to award the new contracts with an official start date of April 16. Terms call for a three-year deal with the option for a two-year extension.
The biggest advantage for CIB in putting the contracts out for bid is that the new agreements will save the board $300,000 in annual security costs.
Currently, Indianapolis-based ESG Security Inc. provides security at the convention center, California-based Contemporary Services Corp. provides security at the stadium, and Indianapolis-based Protection Plus Inc. supplies the armed guards, who are mostly off-duty police officers.
The only change is that ESG is bringing on board Indianapolis-based Advance Tactics Security Inc., a minority-owned firm, as a subcontractor.
The CIB’s 2011 budget includes $3.1 million for security.
It received a total of 13 proposals from 16 firms.
