United Way of Central Indiana added its name to the list of those supporting the Indiana Compact, a statement of principles for immigration policy reform. The Indiana Compact advocates five principles should guide policy solutions around immigration reform:
• federal solutions – urge Indiana’s Congressional delegation to address this federal policy issue.
• law enforcement – respect the rule of law and support law enforcement’s professional discretion as they focus on criminal activities, not civil violations of federal code.
• family integrity – oppose policies that unnecessarily separate families, as strong families are the foundation of successful communities.
• economy - ensure that Indiana’s immigration policies reaffirm our global reputation for being a welcoming and business-friendly state.
• free society – adopt a humane approach to integrating immigrants into our communities.

Indianapolis Parks Foundation received $219,350 as a result of the annual IPL Mayor’s Lunch for Parks.
Grants
The Center for Leadership Development, Girls Inc. of Indianapolis, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Indianapolis, Horizon House and Starfish received a total of $57,500 from Old National Bank Foundation.
Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library received $100,000 from the Library Fund.
Twenty-three local organizations received a total of $1,642,000 from the Nina Mason Puliiam Charitable Trust.
