The settlement, reached on Tuesday, stemmed from a lawsuit brought in December by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
The agency claimed that employee Emma Armon asked to be transferred to an available customer-service position to accommodate her physical impairment related to a right shoulder injury.
Instead, Finish Line “discharged her in favor of equally and less qualified individuals, in violation of the [Americans With Disabilities Act],” the EEOC alleged.
Besides the payment to Armon, the settlement calls for the Finish Line to implement a written equal employment opportunity policy and provide an employment discrimination program to employees.
