Subscribe NowAbout a third of a 100-car Indiana Rail Road Co. train hauling coal went off the tracks Sunday afternoon while en route from Sullivan County to Indianapolis. No one was injured, but parts of Garrison Chapel Road near the tracks in Bloomington are expected to be closed for at least two days. The 35 cars derailed shortly before 3 p.m. Investigators believe weather was a factor because extreme heat can make the tracks expand and contract, but a company spokesman said it is too soon to determine the cause of the incident.
