Intat Precision Inc. plans to spend $26 million to expand one of its factories in Rushville, creating as many as 45 new jobs by next year, according to an announcement Monday by the Rush County Economic & Community Development Corp.

Intat, a subsidiary of Japan-based Aisin Takaoka Co. Ltd., makes metal casting pieces for use in auto manufacturing. It employs about 230 people in Rushville, about 40 miles southeast of Indianapolis.

The company’s most prominent customers, according to its website, include Subaru, Toyota and Nissan.

The expansion would add a third production line to Intat's 105,000-square-foot plant. The company also has a 170,000-square-foot plant in Rushville.

“This is the result of the level of performance that has been achieved at the Rushville operation,” said Brad Rist, vice president of Intat, in a prepared statement. “Our operation has really stepped up to meet several challenges the last few years, and through this recovery, we have demonstrated a confidence internally that made the decision to expand here the best choice.”

Rist said Intat will seek out local and state assistance programs that might help the company's expansion.
