Subscribe NowIndianapolis-based Delco Foods plans to break ground Wednesday on a new compressed natural gas fueling station at 8775 Zionsville Road, near Delco’s distribution center, to serve its own delivery fleet as well as the public.
At the same time, Delco is converting its 17-vehicle fleet to natural gas. A family-owned distributor of Italian foods throughout the Midwest, Delco follows in the footsteps of Monarch Beverage, which in 2012 built a CNG station on Pendleton Pike and began converting most of its fleet.
The multimillion-dollar station is expected to open in December.
“With CNG technology evolving and continually improving, we knew it was the right time to make the change,” Vice President of Operations Bill Dollard said. “As our delivery trucks convert over, we plan to stay on the cutting edge of CNG technology.”
Delco's trucks make 1,200 deliveries a week.
