The Indiana Department of Environmental Management's Recycling Market Development Program announced Tuesday that the companies receiving the grants will commit nearly $2.9 million in total to their operations and the funding will create 35 new jobs.
Grants awarded through the state program help fund operations that reduce waste streams and expand the use of recyclable materials in the manufacturing process.
Indianapolis-based Technology Recyclers was awarded $125,000 toward the purchase of equipment, including a shredder, feeder, pit conveyor and baler. The company plans to hire 13 employees.
Indianapolis-based GreenCycle of Indiana will receive $150,000 toward the purchase of an electrically-operated tub grinder to expand its mulch and composting operation. The company plans to hire two employees.
Petoskey Plastics Inc. and Reflective Industries LLC, both in Blackford County, received grants of $175,000 and $150,000, respectively. Petoskey plans 16 new employees and Reflective plans four hires.
