A manufacturer of fuel pumps that changed ownership two years ago plans to eliminate one-third of the workforce at its Indiana plant by Dec. 6, the company said Wednesday in a notice to the state Department of Workforce Development.

Carter Fuel Systems plans to begin terminating 111 of the 370 workers at its Logansport plant beginning Nov. 22, it said.

Eighty of the employees are listed as base assembly workers. The remainder work in set-up, maintenance or custodial operations. The affected workers are represented by United Steelworkers Local 4863 and have bumping rights.

The facility, located about 80 miles north of Indianapolis, was sold two years ago by Southfield-based Federal-Mogul Corp., a publicly traded $7.3 billion diversified global manufacturing supply company.

Federal-Mogul sold the business to Cleveland, Ohio-based Crowne Group LLC as part of a strategic divesture of non-core assets.

Federal-Mogul said the plant generated more than $80 million in sales in 2013.
