A library devoted to the life and literary works of late author Kurt Vonnegut is turning to his fans to raise money for its move to a larger location.

The Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library needs $750,000 to pay its first three years of rent at a downtown Indianapolis building which has four times more space than its current location.

Library founder and CEO Julia Whitehead said that money will also help pay to reconfigure the 5,400-square-foot building for expanded programming and to exhibit more of its large collection, much of which remains in storage.

Whitehead says, "we hope Vonnegut fans everywhere will pitch in for Kurt." The Indianapolis native whose works include "Slaughterhouse-Five," ''Cat's Cradle" and "Hocus Pocus" died in 2007.
