At last! Mark Hill is stating the obvious regarding mass transit for the city. We need a 21st century answer to transit problems that is flexible, mobile and responsive to population movements.
Stats show we do not have enough employees in the downtown center to sustain a fixed system. With the migration of businesses to the outer belt, this may never exist. An Uber/Lyft-type system needs to be explored.
Furthermore, there is an abysmal lack of sidewalks in Washington Township (and I am sure other townships) to get access to a bus stop if it existed without taking your life in your hands. I support a transportation system for the population but adamantly am against the fixed and expensive Red Line. If the Red Line is included in any referendum, I will vote against it. Let us not re-create a 20th century system.
