An Indiana House Republican says a "substantial" amendment is planned for a bill overhauling last year's vaping law, but isn't offering many specifics yet.

As currently written, the bill by Sen. Randy Head of Logansport effectively guts the troubled 2016 law, which created a monopoly and sparked an FBI investigation. Much of the law was already struck down by a federal appeals court.

The Indiana Senate passed the bill 49-1 in late February

Rep. Matt Lehman, R-Berne, said Wednesday that he wants to make changes to protect minors, formally define what an e-cigarette is and set insurance requirements.

Lehman also says they may restore some regulations that weren't struck down by the court ruling.

The bill currently would cede most regulatory control and oversight to the federal government.
