TechPoint has named tech veteran Scott McCorkle as its executive chairman and appointed two other software executives to its board, the not-for-profit technology group announced Tuesday.

McCorkle Scott McCorkle

McCorkle served as CEO of Salesforce Marketing Cloud from 2014 until he stepped down last August. Since then, he's been investing and advising in the local startup ecosystem, assisting firms such as Torchlite and Fuzic. Already a board member, he replaces former chairman Kelly Pfledderer, founder and former CEO of Apparatus, who will remain on the board.

New to the TechPoint board are Glenda Akers, chief operating officer of Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and Kristina Lengyel, vice president of global professional services at Kronos Inc., a software and services company. Akers has assumed the seat McCorkle used to hold representing Salesforce. Lengyel is an addition to the now 34-member board.

Akers has more than 30 years of experience in the tech industry, managing product organizations in both startups and Fortune 500 corporations including SAP.

She was active in the Austin, Texas, startup community, working at firms including MetaSolv and SoloMio. She relocated to Indianapolis from Breckenridge, Colorado, in January.

Lengyel has been with Kronos since 2010 and previously held senior roles at Open Solutions and Concerto Software. TechPoint said she's a first-generation immigrant, refugee, and self-proclaimed "successful runaway." She's based in Boston, which is Kronos' headquarters. The firm also has operations in Indianapolis.

TechPoint is dedicated to promoting and accelerating the growth of Indiana's tech community through a variety of initiatives and programs.

"From talent development to resources for startups to advocacy for innovation-based companies scaling up, TechPoint is playing a critical role helping Indiana reach its potential as a major tech hub," McCorkle said in a medi release. "I am excited to help build Indiana's tech ecosystem at this important point of inflection in technology growth."
