As a subscriber you can listen to articles at work, in the car, or while you work out. Subscribe NowHealth groups were among the top recipients of Indiana state employees’ charitable giving last year, with workers donating heavily to hospitals, disease research organizations and patient groups.
The Indiana State Employees’ Community Campaign said more than 6,100 employees contributed more than $1.47 million to 1,600 charities.
Health organizations getting contributions included Riley Hospital for Children and the Riley Children’s Foundation ($37,229), St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital ($18,636), the American Cancer Society ($13,945) the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Indianapolis (12,368) and Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky ($10,996).
The single largest recipient in any category was the Correction Professional Assistance Fund of Indiana ($258,854), which provides support to department employees “during times of great need.” The Indiana Department of Corrections employs 6,000 workers, making it the largest department by number of employees.•
