A German auto parts company is planning a $23 million expansion of its Fort Wayne factory that it says will create about 120 new jobs.

ElringKlinger makes automotive cylinder and head gaskets, components for lithium-ion batteries and fuel cells. The company plans to add $20.6 million in manufacturing, logistics and information technology equipment to its Fort Wayne plant.

Fort Wayne's city council will consider a holding company plans Tuesday to spend nearly $2.5 million to complete a building ElringKlinger will lease for its expansion. That building is expected to be completed in July.

The Journal Gazette reports that in exchange, Fort Wayne would provide tax abatements to save the holding company $422,000 and ElringKlinger $1.48 million over 10 years.

ElringKlinger also has plants in Fremont, California, and Buford, Georgia.
