The Hamilton Restaurant in Noblesville is set to close this month after 16 years in business.

Owners Clyde Worley and Vanita Clements announced plans to close the eatery at 933 Conner St. on Feb. 24. The husband-and-wife-team said they plan to retire from the restaurant business to spend more time with family and on other activities.

Worley, the chef, and Clements, the pastry chef, opened the Hamilton in 2002. Worley had previously served as the chef at Cafe Nora and Salvatore's.

Reach by IBJ on Friday, Clements said she could not immediately comment on the closure.

The Hamilton featured fine dining in a casual atmosphere with varying menu items that included lamb chops, escargot, steak au poive, bacon-wrapped pork loin and seafood stew.

It was known locally for its crab cakes and wide variety of desserts, including the hummingbird cake—a spice cake featuring banana, pineapple, walnuts and heavy icing.

The restaurant typically received good to great reviews and was ranked the 13th best restaurant in Noblesville out of 114 ranked eateries.
