The company on Wednesday notified the Indiana Department of Workforce Development of the job losses. Employees have been notified that their jobs will be eliminated in phases beginning in August and concluding Oct. 31. Of those who are losing their jobs, 58 are material handlers and three are managers.
A DJO Global spokeswoman said closing the 110,000-square-foot warehouse at 790 Columbia Road is related to DJO's recently announced partnership with XPO Logistics, which will begin managing portions of DJO's North American distribution operations beginning in July. As part of the partnership, DJO will open a state-of-the-art distribution center in Dallas-Forth Worth that will be managed by XPO.
DJO Global’s website says the company employs 5,000 people working in more than a dozen facilities worldwide. Its Indianapolis facility shipped a variety of orthopedic shoes and other products under brand such brand names as Donjoy, Dr. Comfort and Aircast.
