In a deal that closed in September but was just announced this week, one of the city’s oldest marketing technology software firms has been acquired.

Indianapolis-based Delivra, which launched in 1999, was acquired by Sydney, Australia-based Campaign Monitor, a global software-as-a-service company specializing in email marketing. Campaign Monitor, which is privately held by a group of investors led by Insight Venture Partners, also last year acquired Emma, a Nashville, Tennessee-based email marketing firm.

Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.

The Delivra brand is not going away, its offerings will remain a product as part of the Campaign Monitor family of brands.

The combined company, which now has 400 employees, will be headquartered in Nashville, but Campaign Monitor officials said the vast majority of the Delivra employees will remain with the company and the Indianapolis office will not only remain but likely grow as opportunities under the new ownership expand.

Delivra CEO and founder Neil Berman, who is well known in the local tech community, has left the company, Campaign Monitor officials confirmed, but the rest of the executive team is staying in place. In 2011, the company reported having 30 employees. As of IBJ Daily deadline, the company’s current number of employees was not available.

“Nothing is changing with the offices. Nashville may be the headquarters, but Campaign Monitor will maintain its presence in Sydney, San Francisco, Indianapolis and London,” explained Wellford Dillard, CEO of Campaign Monitor. “Those locations are important to us both because of the people who are in those offices and because our global footprint enables us to better serve our customers.”

The acquisitions of Delivra and Emma allow Campaign Monitor to serve a wider range of customers, including companies of all sizes, company officials said.

“The most important thing these three brands share is an incredible dedication to our customers. By bringing these companies together under the Campaign Monitor brand, our focus on the success of our customers has only gotten stronger. Our future product investments will be centered around helping our customers do more with less, helping brands drive more engagement and revenue from email, and helping marketers of every level grow as professionals. Not only do we have products to support businesses of different sizes, but we also have the resources marketers need to be successful, including design, deliverability, and strategic services,” Dillard said in a statement.

Delivra has a considerable customer base in central Indiana, including IBJ. Delivra handles delivery of the IBJ Daily and other mass emails for IBJ.
