Justices won’t hear Indy historic district construction appeal

The Indiana Supreme Court last week denied an appeal from eight members of the Lockerbie Glove Factory Town Home Owners Association who are challenging a construction project in a downtown Indianapolis historic district.

Homeowners in the Lockerbie neighborhood sued Dan Jacobs after he received approval from the Indianapolis Historic Preservation Commission to begin the construction of a parking lot and retail center called Block 20 on a property near the Lockerbie Glove Factory Town Homes.

Despite objections about the commission’s potential bias, as well as the threat of undermining the area’s historic character, the Indiana Court of Appeals ruled in favor of Jacobs.
