UPDATE (11/29/18)–Foxconn Technology Group responded to questions from IBJ with the following statement: "We can confirm that an Indiana-based subsidiary of our firm that carries out assembly operations for a number of customers is carrying out a restructuring of its operations due to changing product requirements from customers. As a matter of company policy, we do not comment on our customers or their products. This action has no impact on any other Foxconn-related company."

Two subsidiaries of computer electronics manufacturer Foxconn Technology Group plan to lay off 155 employees at a facility in Plainfield over the next three months.

Q-Edge Corp. and Foxconn/Hon Hai Logistics California LLC notified state officials of the impending layoffs on Wednesday.

The companies are chalking up the layoffs at their facility at 1581 S. Perry Road to “changes in our business and production objectives,” according to the notice. The job losses will affect manufacturing and assembly workers as well as related office staff.

The facility will continue to operate after the layoffs, but the companies did not specify how many employees would remain.

Company officials did not immediately return a call from IBJ seeking clarification.

Taiwan-based Foxconn typically does not comment on specific clients, but it is known that Foxconn supplies parts to Apple and other computer-related manufacturers, such as Intel and Microsoft.
