Dealer Services Corp. announced Monday morning that it plans to create up to 60 local jobs by the end of 2012 and invest $6.4 million in its Carmel headquarters.

The company, which provides inventory financing programs for more than 8,000 automotive dealers nationwide, said it will lease and upgrade an additional 12,000 square feet at its City Center Drive facility.

“The economic environment is perfect for finance companies to expand, if they can raise the capital,” Dealer Services President and CEO John Fuller said in a prepared statement. “DSC has prepared for this moment, and we’re ready to take advantage of the opportunity.”

Dealer Services operates in more than 68 markets, where it provides automotive inventory financing for retail, wholesale, salvage, leasing and rental, and consumer lending networks.

Founded in 2005, the company has 435 employees nationwide, including about 100 in Carmel, and plans to begin hiring for additional administrative and management positions in 2010.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered Dealer Services up to $525,000 in performance-based tax credits and up to $60,000 in training grants based on the company’s job-creation plans. The city of Carmel will consider additional property-tax abatement.
