The Family and Social Services Administration will dedicate and open Indiana's newest state psychiatric hospital on Friday.

The agency said the NeuroDiagnostic Institute on Indianapolis' east side is Indiana's first new psychiatric hospital in more than 50 years. It said the institute will deliver advanced treatment for patients with the most challenging neuropsychiatric illnesses and move them more efficiently into the most appropriate treatment settings within a community or the state mental health system.

The 159-bed hospital has programs that include adolescent autism, psych-med for children and adolescents, adult acute psychiatric and psychiatric intensive care, and neuro-cognitive disorders. It's located on the campus of Community East Hospital and is operated in partnership with Community Health Network

The institute joins a network that includes state hospitals Evansville, Logansport, Madison and Richmond.
