Kenneth L. Gladish is moving on.
Once a central figure in Indianapolis’ charitable sector, he has been hired as director of The Grantmaking School at Grand Valley State University’s Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership, the school announced today.
Last year, Gladish accepted an appointment as a visiting scholar at Indiana University’s Center on Philanthropy—returning to familiar territory after six years as president of the national YMCA. He will complete that commitment.
At Grand Rapids, Mich.-based GVSU, Gladish will lead faculty as they train charitable foundation officers in advanced grantmaking techniques. It is the first university-based program of its kind.
In the 1980s and ’90s, Gladish was a prominent player in Indianapolis philanthropy, leading the Indiana Humanities Council and Indianapolis Foundation and helping to launch Central Indiana Community Foundation and the Indiana Grantmakers Alliance.
