Pernod Ricard USA, the French owner of a 150-year-old distillery and bottling plant in the southeast Indiana city of Lawrenceburg, has notified the state that it will lay off 405 workers by June 26.

Details were not immediately available. Dearborn County Commissioner Jeff Hughes said he had not heard about the layoff.

The plant distills Wild Turkey whiskey and bottles wine coolers.

Pernod in February agreed to sell the distillery to CL Financial Group for an undisclosed price. CL Financial Group is based in Trinidad and Tobago.

The sale, which was hailed a saving the plant from closure, was to close by the middle of this year.

The plant is Pernod’s largest facility in the United States and one of Lawrenceburg’s oldest employers. Pernod Ricard USA acquired the Seagram’s plant and brands in 2001.
