Subscribe NowIndianapolis developer Paul Kite Co. has offered the Highland Springs Homeowners Association in McCordsville more than $3 million to support Kite’s plans to build a retail center with a Target store nearby.
The offer hasn’t been accepted. To get the money, association board members would have to testify in support of the 63-acre project, and the project would have to be built, according to the Daily Reporter of Greenfield.
The association board intended to ask the neighborhood to vote whether to accept the money, but then put the vote on hold after the town council last week rebuffed the Kite project because it is slated for an area zoned light residential.
The site is at the southeast corner of county roads 1000 North and 600 West in the Hancock County community.
One association official said the money likely would be spent to bring water and sewer service to the neighborhood. The area has wells and septic tanks.
