Hillenbrand Industries Inc. reported today that profit in its fiscal fourth quarter fell on an adjusted basis to 82 cents per share from $1.12 per share a year earlier.
The setback in the period ended Sept. 30 resulted from troubles in its Acute Care and Batesville Casket businesses in North America as well as investments in a strategic plan, the Batesville-based maker of hospital beds and caskets said.
Profit from continuing operations fell 29.4 percent, to $48.1 million.
For the fiscal year, earnings per share fell to $3.07 from $3.60 the prior year.
