McShurley, a Republican who stunned Democrat Jim Mansfield in a recount in December, said she is considering reallocating some economic development dollars to matching funds that would attract more federal money for traffic-signal upgrades and other expensive projects, according to The Star Press of Muncie.
She also is bewildered by the city’s having several groups focused on various types of economic development.
Scrutiny of the city’s broader budget has convinced her to cut at least one frill: a Fourth of July fireworks display at Prairie Creek Reservoir.
