Grand Park Sports & Entertainment, which manages the 400-acre sports campus, announced Monday that TreeRunner Adventure Park plans to operate an aerial adventure park on a 5-acre wooded area at the center of Grand Park between the Indianapolis Colts training camp fields and the turf soccer fields.
Construction is underway on the TreeRunner park, which is expected to open in March 2026. Plans for TreeRunner at Grand Park call for 20 zip lines and 50 climbing elements for all ages.
“TreeRunner has been searching for the ideal aerial park location in the Indianapolis market for over five years, and the one location that had the combination of an active local audience and abundance of athlete visitors was Grand Park,” TreeRunner Development Director Gaal Karp said in written remarks.
TreeRunner currently operates three aerial adventure parks in Michigan (Grand Rapids, West Bloomfield Township and Rochester), and another in Raleigh, North Carolina.
In addition to selling individual tickets, TreeRunner offers group outings for special events and corporate team building. TreeRunner Parks also typically offer miniature golf and other activities.
Grand Park, which opened in 2014, has 31 soccer fields, 26 baseball diamonds, two administration buildings, seven concession stands and the 378,000-square-foot multi-use Grand Park Events Center. The Colts moved their annual summer training camp to the park in 2018. Plans are underway to develop the area around the sports campus.
In December, members of the Westfield City Council unanimously approved a 30-year, $184 million public-private partnership with Grand Park Sports & Entertainment to operate the sports campus. GPSE is a joint venture between Indianapolis-based Indy Sports and Entertainment LLC (the Indy Eleven professional soccer club) and Westfield-based Bullpen Ventures LLC.
Indianapolis-based commercial development company Keystone Group LLC is a private developer working with the city of Westfield to develop what is being called Grand Park District. Keystone and Indy Eleven are both owned by Ersal Ozdemir. Bullpen Ventures operates Bullpen Tournaments, which organizes baseball and softball tournaments at Grand Park.
Grand Park District, which could take a decade to develop, would cover an area of about 152 acres north and south of 186th Street and bisected by Grand Park Boulevard.
The district could feature a 10,000-seat stadium, a sports technology incubator space and a park lined with attractions, housing, office facilities, restaurants and hotels, according to a master plan unveiled by the city earlier this year.
Grand Park was the most-visited youth sports destination in the United States in 2023. The sports campus also was the 16th-busiest sports facility that year, with 5.5 million visits. Grand Park also had 1.3 million unique visitors in 2023.
