  1. Selling out the health of our communities for some extra revenue that may or may not be used to “improve” that community. 56 diesel generators directly across a heavily used bike trail from an elementary school? Shame

    1. And they’re probably lying about that, just like with the data center in Martindale-Brightwood. The number of generators on site jumped once they got their approvals.

  2. I’m not saying I’m for or against the project but it always seems challenging to find a very simple explanation of what the “data” will be used for and who will be using it. Does anyone know?

    1. It may also be beneficial to understand the 10+ year plan for the facility. The world’s leading experts continue to state that tech miniaturization is happening rapidly and may render these massive facilities obsolete with the onset of quantum computing.

  3. Seems to me this could be the best use of this parcel. I would hope some to the revenue could be used to revitalize Irvington Plaza. A data center seems better than other heavy industrial uses.

    1. ^^^This. If the site were built out with a huge 24/7 warehouse, wouldn’t diesel trucks drive in and out and sit there idling? Wouldn’t noise from trucks backing into docks be disruptive to homes, businesses, and schools nearby? Wouldn’t traffic on English and Kitley be horrible with trucks coming and going from the site?

    2. This is a classic false dilemma fallacy. We are not limited to a data center or a warehouse here. There are plenty of other uses for brownfields and communities are right to point that out, as they are all over the country.

    3. Michael, this land is zoned and planned as “industrial”, so it is not a “false dilemma”. The land can be used by right ONLY for industrial purposes, so the warehouse with trucks scenario is the most likely alternative to the data center. After all…look what else was built on the Thunderbird site…a beverage warehouse.

  4. Quick AI search for 56 decibels.

A sound of 56 decibels (dB) would sound like a moderate, conversational hum that is entirely safe for human ears. It is characterized as a “moderate” or “fairly quiet” noise level, sitting right between a quiet suburban night and a louder office environment.
Real-World ExamplesTo help you picture the volume, 56 dB is equivalent to:
A normal spoken conversation between two people standing about 3 feet apart.
A running household refrigerator when you are standing right next to it.
A quiet, modern dishwasher running its wash cycle in the kitchen.
    Moderate rainfall outside your window.
A running bathroom shower heard from a short distance
