Now tell us how much we’d save if the Governor didn’t insist on being able to WFH in Jasper at taxpayer expense … while insisting all other state employees come to the office…
He saved Indiana $38 million?!? He forgot to account for the $168,000,000 in revenues we lose from the tax incentives he gave to Data Centers. By my math, we are at least $130,000,000 in the hole.

Efficiency is great but has the admin targeted the appropriate buckets? And how much can the State due to offset increasing costs?
Many people don’t want to believe it (and it’s hard to convince them when the governor builds a heliport and the SOS takes overseas trips and buys a $90k vehicle) but Indiana government was/is already lean. The link below (from Senate republicans) shows the components of the 2026-27 IN budget: the biggest piece is education at 56% followed closely by Medicaid/Child Services/Health at 31%. That’s 87% of the budget! And IN isn’t exactly a big spender in either of these areas.

Indiana has long since cut the fat and has been cutting muscle for decades. Indiana Republicans have not see a future worth investing in … the data center push is yet another example. That’s the sort of thing you push for when you are unable or unwilling to instead have an educated workforce that draws real employers.
“Saved” is a misnomer. Not mentioned the affects to public health, to those in need of mental health assistance, families with special needs children, the elderly dependent upon the state for assitance. Not to mention the money spent on Braun’s private home helipad, the new vehicles “needed” by administration officials, the increased money “needed” by the SOS and last but not least, the money being spent on Rokita’s mouth. How much was really saved?
