I am so tired of being told my “opinion” is wrong, because I don’t follow someone else’s believe. My opinion is my opinion, as is her’s, like it or not……….EVERYONE has a right to their opinion, without being criticized, held in contempt of this or that, or threat of kicked out of this or that. What the heck is wrong with people today. If we don’t stand up, how will we be heard. Oh, that’s right, you stand up and contradict the city council, you get hauled away in hand cuffs. No, your opinion can be wrong. Facts are facts (well, except for Trump and his MAGAt ilk). But your opinion, derived from your view of the facts, or formed entirely devoid of factual input, can most certainly be wrong. You are entitled to your opinion, but that doesn’t make your opinion correct. And this truism reflects a major problem in society today…opinions seem to matter more than facts. Opinions have become the facts. And as long as opinions are facts, there can’t be reasonable discussion.
The young lady wasn’t removed from the CCC meeting because she contradicted the Council, she was removed, rightly or wrongly, because she violated the Council’s rules. Righly or wrongly are opinions; that she was in violation of the rule was not. That Osip could have handled it better is an opinion; that he had the right, under Council rules to do what he did, is a fact…
Expressing an opinion, as Ms. Carlino did, that lacked any factual support, is wrong. The opinion was wrong, and her decision to express the opinion was wrong.
Now the realities of power and ambition manifest themselves – so much for principles…
