A weather exposed shopping mall to replace a climate controlled enclosed shopping mall in Indiana’s fickle weather climate .WE Won’t miss what we had until it is gone .
Why is the Circle Centre Mall being completely dismantled??? To be replaced by low level apartment buildings.
It makes no sense!
The inside is still in very good condition. Turn it into an entertainment center with a department store. Downtown Indianapolis is in desperate need of both.
We should be making downtown as entertaining and exciting as possible to encourage more people to come downtown and out of towners to want to come back.
Low level apartment buildings? From what I’ve seen, Hendricks doesn’t do ANYTHING low level. And downtown needs to continue building housing and densifying to support those other things you mention (like retail). By the way, there is plenty of retail and entertainment planned for this project in addition to the apartments, office and hotel space. Enclosed malls are a thing of the past.
Keith there have been multiple department stores in the mall and none of them have stayed in business. Until the density is increased with 24-hour residents then it’s going to be hard for a department store to make it. Also the entire top floor at one time was movies arcades and bars.
