The idiots who own stake n shake are the primary stock holder or CB.
They almost succeeded in killing another solid brand
Actually, I think Biglari owns less than 10% of CB and is the 3rd largest shareholder. He initially did some good things at SNS cutting costs but then took it too far – basically trying to become the lowest cost chain competing with the likes of Rally’s, which clearly doesn’t work with wait service and hand-dipped milk shakes.
Biglari won’t stop until he asset strips Cracker Barrel as well …
Why do people care about this?
Good question. If Cracker Barrel had waited another week and kept their new logo, the social media world would have forgotten all about it – along with everyone else.
No one cared, but when Trump didn’t drop it, the stock was tanking.
Didn’t hear the outcry with Pizza Hut, McDonalds, Taco Bell, or a plethora of other chain restaurants and businesses simplifying their logos. Seems like manufactured outrage to distract from other things happening, especially if you look at the long-term stock performance of Cracker Barrel and realize the ‘huge drop’ that was reported wasn’t that far out of line with the trend for the last few years and hadn’t even gotten close yet to the low from back in March/April. It was almost as if it was being used to distract people from something else…..
So now that the logo is back, and the food and service and country kitsch are firmly in place, what are the chances people who avoid that place because we think the food is terrible are going to start coming in? The chain was dying, and took a chance at a re-brand. Apparently that upset some folks, and Trump, whom I doubt has ever eaten at a Cracker Barrel other than as a political show, seized the moment to relate to his rural customers. Be one of the common folks.
When Cracker Barrel follows Howard Johnson’s and Steak & Shake and Stuckey’s into the bin of failed chains, what will the MAGAts say then?
This is dumb. Cracker Barrel was/is trying to change their image because of declining sales. Another Trump distraction.
No company is safe from the wrath of Trump and Social “Truth”
I’m just glad this global crisis has been resolved.
So that’s American capitalism, where the President makes or breaks your business. CB was trying to re-position it’s business for the future because the current model was failing (stock down 70% in the last 5 years) but unfortunately Trump and his fellow conservatives only live in the past . Trump seems to think he knows more about their business just like he believes he knows more about everything than everybody. It’s not certain whether the new strategy would have succeeded or not but the result would have been owned and driven by the company, now it will be the result of President intervention. That’s free enterprise in America.
The IBJ comment section has become the wailing wall for those inflicted with TDS. If only Kamala was in charge *sigh..
Amen Larry. TDS runs rampant in the IBJ comment section. Just the word “Trump” seems to trigger some people.
So you support the President weighing in on the marketing strategy a private company? That seems like an odd role for the leader of the free world. And you still hate Kamala even though she clearly won the debate and was eminently more qualified.
Larry, IBJ is a Democrat PR Firm so what do you expect? It is always interesting though to see which articles Nate’s Flock comment on and which ones they ignore
I don’t care what logo they use. But, I will say, the ‘new’ logo looks like a student’s first In-design project.
