This is interesting. I didn’t even know they had any urban stores. They must know how to make this work.
I thought that the old CVS store had a drive through window in the ally?
And they have a rewards program now. RIP my trim waistline
Time to start saying goodbye to the downtown Steak N Shake 🙁
That downtown Steak N Shake is likely one of their better performing stores in the area. Doubt its going anywhere soon…
Great news.
A few quick thoughts as you lean into a downtown location:
• Signage matters. Don’t get lost at street level. Go a bit higher and more visible than what we typically see.
• Outdoor seating along Illinois Street with heaters would be a big win, especially for year-round activity.
• A walk-up window on Ohio could really help capture foot traffic.
• If possible, consider carving out a few spaces on Ohio for quick mobile pickup. Not a traditional drive-thru, but something that works for an urban setting.
• And leaning into delivery in a fun way like JJ, something like branded blue bikes, could actually fit the environment well. Deliver!
All in, this is a great addition. It will work, just needs a slight shift in thinking to really engage the urban context.
Cheers again.
Let the calories begin! Oops. I meant to say “don’t let you’re cardiologist know!” Dang, I did it again. What I meant to say is Indiana has a significant, long-term obesity problem.
About 38-percent of adult Hoosiers are categorized as obese, making us among the top 15-20 most obese states. This results in obesity-related illnesses such as diabetes and hypertension. And it not only affecting adults, as 20-percent of children are also consider obese.
As luck would have it, we have a local company that can help with that.
Brandon wins the comments today!
Weight loss drugs are very expensive, and insurance coverage for weight loss drugs like Zepbound, Wegovy, and Saxenda varies significantly with many plans excluding them.
While some commercial plans and employers offer coverage, often requiring prior authorization for high BMI or related conditions (e.g., high blood pressure), many others do not.
And coverage for obesity meds remains limited in Medicaid, and Medicare generally does not cover them.
Oh Brent, Might I suggest the grilled chicken sandwich, side of steamed broccoli, hold the mayo, and a water? Just under 400 calories and, no joke, it’s actually one of my favorites. But in all seriousness, enjoy a burger in moderation and grab a sweet treat, celebrate a new spot coming downtown, and try not to take it all too seriously. Stress and anxiety run a bit rampant these days as it is. Onwards…
Sure, but if I’m going to make a bad choice I want the food to be worth it. And Culver’s is that place.
Everything in moderation. A good burger and fries for lunch or dinner once a month will not kill you or make you obese.
I would love to see a Whataburger from Houston come to Indy. If you like Culvers, you’ll lust for a bite of a Whataburger!
Yuck. I don’t get the fascination with Whataburger. It reminds me of food that was served in my high school cafeteria.
More beef and fake crap food. Anything else they try fails
Ill be there for the opening. Double butterburger pickle tomato grilled onion lettuce side of fries. And a coke zero. Gotta watch your sugar intake
I understand the fanfare about this much more than I did with the Taco Bell Cantina. But jeez, it’s just a Culver’s guys lol. Regardless, it’s good to see that store front finally put back in play.
Hopefully In and Out will be next
