Our local branch, the Bacon location, can’t even handle the delivery of coupons, let alone voting ballots. Who do I need to write (that is NOT at that location) to ensure that mail is being delivered to our apartment community? We see someone delivering mail maybe once or twice a week and when I ask why they aren’t here more often am told that they either “aren’t the regular carrier and just covering someone” or they “don’t have the right key because they aren’t the regular carrier”. It’s insanity and, after dozens upon dozens of calls and in person visits to the Bacon branch post office, I’m convinced that they are incapable of delivering the mail the way it SHOULD be delivered. People need to be fired, clearly.
I used to think that way too. That was before my husband became a mail carrier. If the government would treat their employees better, we wouldn’t have the problem of not enough workers to deliver the mail! It isn’t that they are incapable. It’s because they can’t keep up with the VOLUME of mail the postal service requires them to deliver. The reason you don’t get your mail delivered often is that there isn’t enough employees for your location. I’ve spent months convincing him to quit because I got tired of putting him back together emotionally EVERY NIGHT. The only people that care about the actual worker is the union rep. And I’ve always been against unions. Postal employees get yelled at, degraded and made to feel worthless on a daily basis. They are expected to schedule time off even if they are sick & on the way to the ER. No wonder the mail either doesn’t get delivered or gets to the wrong house. People are expected to handle WAY too many pieces at too quick of a speed. While frequently because called during the day saying they are taking to long. You have to be almost at a jog to get done in the time they require. Fortunately, July 31 is his last day. NO WONDER THEY CANT KEEP EMPLOYEES! He’s 52 and it’s the WORST JOB HE EVER HAD.
The best way to prove that government can’t do anything is to underfund it and run it poorly.
Excuse me, doesn’t the government fund the USPS and also run it. May have missed the sarcasm.
Bush tried to kill the postal service by forcing them to pre-pay their retiree health benefits, something no other federal agency had to do and something that was going to bankrupt them.
NO AMOUNT OF FUNDING WILL HELP IF THEY DON’T START TREATING THEIR EMPLOYEES AS HUMANS!
