Do Indpls taxpayers still own 8-percent of the Conrad? When was the last time IBJ did an objective financial analysis of the taxpayers” investment.
How much of the re-modeling bill will taxpayers have to pay?

Michael, if you are waiting for a follow-up story for your questions, you are going to be very disappointed.
But, yes, the city still retains an 8% financial interest in the financial performance of the Conrad through a participating loan agreement held by the Indianapolis Local Public Improvement Bond Bank. It does not have a direct equity ownership in the hotel. The arrangement was structured so the hotel does not have to make detailed public financial disclosures, though the city has the right to inspect the hotel’s finanicial books and records. The city receives payments from the LLC that owns the hotel. These payments are disclosed in the city’s annual comprehensive financial reports.
As an indirect minority investor, the city has *no* say about the remodeling of the hotel, nor is it paying for it.
Renovate the atrocious lobby. As a high end hotel, the entrance is beyond underwhelming.
Can they get rid of the damn valet that cuts off the Cultural Trail and forces everyone into a choke point? Seriously, it sucks and there is no good reason to have it. Get rid of it.
