  1. Totally unnecessary. Indiana has enjoyed the lowest gas prices in the nation for much of the war. Part of me is thankful, but the grown up in me is shaking his head in disbelief at the financial idiocy. Oh, Guv Braun says, we won’t gyp localities of their money…we’ll pull it out of my butt! Yeah, right: our terrible roads get terribler and terribler. And meanwhile everyone in Marion County will be forced to pay up more and more just to tread water, so to speak. I’m happy to pay those extra fees if they indeed end up on the road, but it’s the Republicans happy to screw a Democratic city that have extracted that cost.

    1. Hard to argue with most of your post Greg.
I think what infuriates me is that people traveling through “the crossroads of America” get a pass to drive on our city streets and more importantly, our highways.
We no longer have weigh stations that catch overloaded trucks, possibly carrying illegals, drugs , and who knows what else.
Truckers used to be the “knights of the road” not so much today as many are driven by people that shouldn’t have a license.
I know that commerce depends on trucking but enforcement hasr got to improve and the companies should pay their “fair share” for our highways.
