Republicans have tried to get rid of the ACA for 15 years without another plan.
There will never be another plan.
I listened to an interview of a Republican Congressman on NPR this morning about the health care deadlock. He regurgitated the party line right up until the interviewer pointed out that 40% of the people in his district ger health insurance though the ACA. He about choked trying to come up with a lie to cover that little bit a reality.
On the bright side, his answer did indicate that there are some serious cracks on the Republican side and they know how badly this is going to hurt them if they do manage to stick to the party line.
Actually, Republicans do have a plan: Bob and weave, lie incessantly and blame everything on Democrats. It’s a heck of a plan because it has worked for the better part of the past 10 years. We could have universal health care for what we’re paying for the current disastrous system, but God forbid the oligarchs are prevented from draining every last penny from our pockets before we die. It’s about time we woke up and realized that the enemy isn’t the gays, transgenders, blacks or even immigrants. It’s the oligarchs who have bought our government lock, stock and demolished East Wing barrel.

I feel the strategy from the Dems is to hold out until November open enrollment starts and the new premiums are public to everyone. Then both sides of the aisle will need to answer to the doubling / tripling of premiums.
The wealthy do not use our commoner healthcare system, they have private doctors and can afford the best of care. As long as they are in control the working class will never be represented equally.
And congress has free healthcare for life so they won’t feel the pain.
Democrats created and passed Obamacare in 2010 under the false pretense that it would reduce costs. It didn’t from the start. It simply subsidized the cost for some people, with taxpayer dollars from others. Obamacare has been a catalyst for insurance premium inflation ever since. Increasing subsidies covered up that fact. What is now being debated are the additional covid-era subsidies which were never intended to be permanent. The current situation is not good and not sustainable. Allowing continuing and increasing subsidies is not a solution.
