This legislation would eliminate a bachelor’s degree in music from the Jacobs School of Music at IU Bloomington, the largest and perennially ranked among the best music schools in the nation, enrolling more than 1,500 students from all 50 states and 55-plus foreign countries?

From the number of teaching and medical positions listed, it demonstrates the need to re-evaluate some low wages for some critical professions. On the other hand, not much money in Stage Lighting (yes this is a degree) and the graduates have little to no chance to pay that debt off with what it pays.
Here’s the thing: how many people in your family who have degrees are actually working within their “credential” field after graduation? Often your degree has no bearing on your profession or earnings after the first job.
I get that the Legislature might really be trying to outlaw stupid financial decisions (borrowing the full cost of a degree) but this isn’t the right way to go about it.
I really don’t care what anyone chooses to study. I DO mind that too many want their student loan(s) debt to be “forgiven”.
