I like G’s position on the matter. ‘Sourcing’ complaints have put the US in this precarious position in the first place along with rare earth and precious metals. I-65 between Columbus and Seymour is dotted with Korean and Japanese automaker parts manufacturers. They ‘set up shop’ years ago. The US and Canada have always had enough bauxite and other raw materials for mass production, but the ease of ‘importing’ raw and finished products was cheaper and quicker than ramping up the mining industry which now, is playing ‘catch up’. There’s always pain in change, but critically necessary. Ultimately mining will be stronger as well as US based employment.
So an additional $40-$50 on a multi thousand dollar off road bike is keeping people from the trails in southern Indiana?? I need to think about that.
